Philosophy and Approach

We cannot change the past, but we can create a more resilient future. I utilize multiple modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy to create a client centered, strength based, and solution-oriented counseling experience for clients.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science, Psychology 1997 Oregon State University
Master of Science, Counseling 2002 Oregon State University

I have also obtained post-graduate level training in systemic family therapy and in the following areas: crisis and trauma response, grief/loss, abuse recovery, poverty and homeless transition, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.

I have had the opportunity to provide counseling in the public education field for over 12 years. I have worked with students in Kindergarten through 12th grade and in alternative education settings. I have vast experience with all types of educational plans for students including Special Education, Individualized Education Plans, 504 Plans, Talented and Gifted, and behavioral plans.

As a client of Resilient Minds, LLC you can expect the following:

• To be informed of the cost of professional services before receiving the services
• To be assured of privacy and confidentiality while receiving services as defined by rule and law, including the following exceptions:
  1. Reporting suspected child abuse
  2. Reporting imminent danger to client or others
  3. Reporting information required in court proceedings if subpoenaed
• To be free from discrimination because of age, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, national origin, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, or socioeconomic status.

Confidentiality

Information that is shared between client and counselor will be kept confidential except in the following situations:

• You make statements indicating you plan to hurt yourself or others
• You make statements indicating that someone is physically, emotionally or sexually abusing you (Applies to clients 18 years of age and younger)
• A court orders a subpoena for information
